My Harrison Bergeron
We were not required to turn in a rough draft nor did we have a peer review for this reader response essay. So this is my fist and only copy of this paper. I chose to write about “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut, and one of our options was to write a creative writing piece which is what I chose to do. When reading this piece I could not help but wonder what was going through the mind of Harrison Bergeron as he was doing what he did so I decided to give his actions a little background. I gave him a cell mate and gave him a story because I thought that he deserved a story. It took me a really long time to write this pieve because I wanted to make sure that my reasoning and my own thoughts on what I think happened were shown very clearly. I think I rewrote this twice before turning in this final copy.
Final DraftAs soon as I heard that we were allowed to write creative writing for our reader response essays, well first I was just extremely excited because creative write is what I do best, I also knew exactly what I was going to do. I love learning and talkining, and reading, and writing about how the brain works. So what I decided to do here was to take on the personality of Harrison Bergeron and I gave him a story. He lived in a world full of restraints so writing this was interesting for me. I was challenged to take on the thoughts of a man who was being punished for being both smart and strong and was in many ways pushed to his breaking point, to the point of insanity.

I found this illustration of the ballerina and Harrison meeting and I personally think that it is amazing. It captures all of the handicaps that Harrison had on him and it just overall an amazing visual.
