My style of writing is typical. I don't mean that I am just like everyone else when it comes to writing, because I'm not. Everyone has their own style of writing, mine just so happens to be typical. I have always loved writing, from the time when I was in second grade and I got in trouble because I was taking too long to write my short story. Again in fourth grade I was yelled at for writing in too much detail which caused my story to be too long. I am one that loves detail, especially when it comes to my creative writing pieces. When I was in fourth grade I wrote a short story about my gymnastics meet when I got fourth place in the all-around. My substitute teacher read it and sent it in to her friend who works in publishing and she said that she was very impressed with my work. I was then asked to go to workshop with lots of authors, mainly of children's books. At this workshop I learned different ways to write stories, different perspectives, but most importantly I realized that I wanted to be a writer.
Writing is my escape from the world. Whenever I need to blow off steam I write. I'll write poems, short stories, or start novels. When I am writing everything else around me goes away. I am there in the moment that I am writing and I can't help but lose myself completely. I have had many people tell me that they were trying to talk to me while I was writing and I acted as if they weren't even there. To me they weren't there. I was the only one in the room, just me and my writing. When I am writing creatively I will most likely not be able to stop writing until either someone smacks me, or until I just cannot write anymore.
Without writing I do not know where I would be. It has helped me through so many hard times, and I can't imagine my life without writing. It has formed me into the person I am today, and for that I thank it. Thank you writing, thank you literature, thank you for helping me, guiding me, and shaping me. Writing is a major part of my life and without it I would be lost.
